The Gospel

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek," (Romans 1:16)

One of the most used and most important words of Christianity is the six letter word "gospel." The literal meaning of this word is "good news." Don't you know it was good news to a lowly group of shepherds (many centuries ago) huddled on a lonely, Judean hillside, when they heard an angel from heaven exclaim, "Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings (news) of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord," (Luke 2:10&11). And don't you know it was good news to the thief on the cross when he looked over at Jesus and said, "Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, to day shalt thou be with me in paradise," (Luke 23:42&43).

And it was certainly good news to my ears, back in 1954, when Pastor Brendle told me that Jesus loved me and wanted to be my Savior!

Now, the word "gospel" means "good news" - but the gospel is made up of three dynamic parts. I Corinthians 15:3&4, "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the Scriptures:" The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, there would be no salvation. John 14:6 is very clear, "Jesus saith unto him (Thomas), I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

Furthermore, according to Revelation 14:6, the gospel is everlasting; that is, there will never be another gospel. There has always been and always will be only ONE way to heaven and that is through the cross work of the Lord Jesus Christ! And John 3:16 tells us that anyone can take part...that includes you! If you've never met Him, you can...right now, He died FOR YOU on the Cross of Calvary. Receive Him as your Savior and do it now! If I can help, call. Thanks for dropping by...May God bless!

How do I become a Christian?

  • REALIZE that you are lost and need a Savior and Jesus Christ is the Savior.
    (Romans 3:23 and 6:23)
  • RECOGNIZE what God had done to remedy your lost condition.
    (Romans 5:8 & John 3:16)
  • REPENT a willingness to turn from sin to the Savior.
    (Luke 13:3 & Acts 20:21)
  • RECEIVE the Lord Jesus Christ as your own Personal Savior.
    (John 1:12)

Dear Friend,
God has provided in Christ Jesus the ONLY way of salvation...you must make the choice to receive God's salvation. Will you, right now, invite Jesus Christ to be your Savior?
